It Started With My Skin

For around seven years, body acne came and went across my back, shoulders and chest. Summer made it worse. Stress made it worse. I tried stronger washes, harsh scrubs, cutting out foods and changing my pillowcase like it was a personal mission.

Some things helped briefly. Most did nothing or left my skin feeling worse.

But the hardest part was not always the breakouts. It was the constant second-guessing. Keeping my shirt on at the beach. Choosing dark tops. Turning off the lights before intimate moments.

They seemed like small choices, but together they made me feel like my skin was something I had to plan my life around.
